Louis XV Fire Surround

An extremely rare opportunity to own an original antique Louis XV fire surround.

The style of 18th century French architecture was guided by the court.

When Louis XV, who reigned from 1715-74 focussed royal life on the smaller salons of Versailles rather than its grand chambers , it transformed the aesthetics away from the imposing and angular interior architecture that that characterised the style of Louis XIV.

A broader focus on comfort and more delicate forms define the period identifying this piece as classic Louis XV.

Immaculately restored and period original to mid 1700’s, this is a very rare find in Australia, particularly since it was almost certainly manufactured before Cooks discovery of Australia.

Italian Carrera Mantle

A rare opportunity for ownership of an incredible artefact of Victorian opulence is on offer here in this original grand marble fire surround.

Manufactured in Britain out of Italian Quarried white Carrera marble during the mid 1800s before being transported via tall ship to the colony of Australia and being installed into a St Kilda rd mansion where it served for 150 years before coming to our workshops for a full and high quality restoration.

It’s big, it’s grand, it’s bold and it can be yours for its new life.

Original Victorian Marble Surround

On offer here is an original victorian marble surround in extraordinary condition having been restored in our workshops to a high standard. This surround is made from Gris Sainte Anne marble which was quarried primarily in Belgium and France before being depleted in the early 1900’s.

A stunning marble highly sought after for its warmth and masculine characteristics, its intrigue centring around the contrasting tones of grey with white veins and multitudes of fossils throughout.

Likely manufactured in England and transported to Melbourne in a tall ship during the mid 1800’s it is now ready for its next chapter in your home as both a stunning talking piece and historical feature.

An amazing example, the timeless classical decadence of this original Victorian marble mantelpiece is clear for all to see. Meticulously restored in our workshops is this utterly decadent Italian white Carerra marble, with contrasting detail pieces created using red/brown Breche de St Maximin marble from France is a show stopper.

A statement piece made in England during the mid 1800s, transported via tall ship, serving a full life in a stately Melbourne manor and now ready to install into a new home.
